Golf Industry News - usga

Following the announcement by The R&A and USGA that there will be limitations on golf balls introduced from 2028, the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) and the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects (SAGCA) have issued a joint response explaining their support of the decision.

Titleist and Callaway, two of the golf industry’s leading ball brands have issued statements reacting to the R&A and UGSA’s proposal to curb the distances that all golfers will be able to hit the ball in future.

The R&A and USGA has announced an update to the testing conditions used for golf ball conformance under the Overall Distance Standard, which will take effect from January 2028. The decision aims to reduce the impact increased hitting distances have on golf’s long-term sustainability while minimising the impact on the recreational game.
