Macdonald Hotels & Resorts is aiming to restore Portal Golf & Spa Resort's reputation as one of the leading golf hotels in the country with a £200,000 investment in a golf course renovation and maintenance programme over the winter months.

The growing popularity of destinations that offer golf facilities and a spa has been one of the more noticeable trends in the golf hospitality industry of late, with more and more groups and couples booking venues that offer both activities on the same site.

Chicago-based property investment company Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners has bought the Macdonald Marine Hotel & Spa in North Berwick, Scotland.
