There is still time to book for the 31st Golf Foundation Pro-Am in October, at London Golf Club, Kent, a European Tour Destination.
The Golf Foundation Pro-Am – held this year on 9 October – is supported by the European Tour and is a highly popular networking event among golf-lovers from the golf industry and world of business, which stretches back to 1986. Each year, European Tour Professionals have welcomed groups of amateurs to help make the Pro-Am a superb day in the diary of many golfers who want to show their support of junior grass roots golf.
For 2017 the event will be staged at one of the country’s most popular golfing venues at London Golf Club, in Ash, Kent (near Brands Hatch) for a sixth year. The Pro-Am drama will be played out on The International course, which is judged to be among the finest downland courses in Europe, offering an exciting mix of risk and reward to its players. The highly attractive course has been used for European Tour Qualifying and Regional Open Qualifying in the recent past.
The Pro-Am has been an excellent fundraising event for the Golf Foundation over three decades, raising nearly £500,000 for the nationally recognised charity which aims to make the benefits of golf available to any young person and help them to ‘Start, Learn and Stay’ in the sport.
All money raised this year will go directly towards Golf Foundation initiatives that support youngsters with a disability to participate in golf.
Across all fundraising, the Foundation relies on support from all golfers as it introduces half-a-million young people to golf every year through its ‘HSBC Golf Roots’ programme, creating a pathway from school and community golf to regular play at the golf club.
Keith Pelley, Chief Executive of the European Tour, said: “We are delighted to continue supporting the Golf Foundation Pro-Am, which raises thousands of pounds for an excellent cause. The London Golf Club, which is part of our European Tour Properties Network, is the ideal venue for this fantastic event, and I hope everyone involved has a great day playing alongside members from the European, Challenge and Senior Tours.”
Teams of three amateurs will be supported by a Tour Professional for a Stableford better-ball competition which features a range of prizes and on-course challenges. The atmosphere on the day is always very friendly as amateurs are joined by European Tour, Challenge Tour, European Senior Tour and Ladies’ European Tour players.
Attractions include a champagne breakfast before a shot-gun start, an excellent three-course meal and a charity auction and raffle.
Stephen Lewis, Chairman of the Golf Foundation, said: “Everyone who plays in the Golf Foundation Pro-Am enjoys this event and it is without doubt a true highlight of the season for many business people who love their golf and have fun on the course. Being held at a great venue with the support of the European Tour makes this a unique opportunity to mix some great golf with valuable networking, making new friends, while putting something back into the grass roots of the game.”
The big day is on 9 October. Bookings are £1,000 per team. To find out more about booking a team, call 01992 449830 or see www.golf-foundation.org
