St Andrews Links became the first venue in Scotland to host an innovative First Green field trip aimed at inspiring the next generation of greenkeepers by showcasing the range of skills required in greenkeeping across science, technology, engineering and maths.

The Old Course at St Andrews will welcome its tenth ‘keeper of the green’ since 1864 next month when Jon Wood takes over as Course Manager at the Home of Golf from long-time incumbent Gordon McKie.

The 150th Open, which was the 30th time The R&A has brought the Championship to the Old Course, saw record-breaking figures for St Andrews Links including in retail, social media and website traffic
