Kent golf club sold

9.00am 10th April 2001 - Property

Austin Lodge is an 18 hole proprietary golf club with clubhouse and practice ground located close to the south east quadrant of the M25 Motorway. On behalf of Shaftesbury Investments Ltd the business has been sold by Humberts Leisure, chartered surveyors and leisure business specialists, to the Kent based Etchinghill Golf Partnership. No details of the sale price are being made available.

Etchinghill Golf Partnership operates two other golf businesses in Kent, Boughton Golf Club near Faversham and Etchinghill Golf Club, Folkestone. Etchinghill Golf Partner, James Tory, said ‘We are pleased with our acquisition of Austin Lodge Golf Club, which will complement our existing clubs well. We look forward to improving Austin Lodge’s facilities and working with the members to ensure that the club moves from strength to strength over the coming years.’

Ben Allen BSc MRICS handled the sale from Humberts Leisure’s Winchester Office that is dedicated to the golf and hotel markets. He commented: “Austin Lodge is a great facility. I know that the club will flourish under Etchinghill Golf Partnership’s control, as Boughton Golf Club’s members will no doubt testify following Humberts Leisure’s sale of that club to Etchinghill Golf Partnership in 1997. This sale, our fourth in the last few months, is further evidence of the current strength of the golf market.”
