Kyra van Leeuwen, former Ladies European Tour professional, has joined the Grow the Game of Golf project. The project, was launched in 2010 by an influential group of European golf bodies (EGCOA, European Tour, CMAE, FEGGA, PGA’s of Europe, EIGCA and GEO) with the aim of encouraging and inspiring golf clubs and other golf organisations to help develop the game, particularly at grass roots level.

Van Leeuwen is passionate about the game and from a very early age excelled both on a national and international level. Due to a recent injury she has decided to end her career as a tour professional and focus on her Master of Arts in Sociology.

“I am very keen on combining my academic studies with my professional experience in golf and see this as an excellent opportunity to make a difference in growing the game of golf across Europe,” said Kyra.

She added, “My vision for the project is to conduct an in-depth research into the social policy of golf clubs in response to the changing golf market. By conducting the research I hope to make a significant contribution to the development and growth of the project.”

The Grow the Game of Golf website has been developed over the last few years into an invaluable online resource for golf course owners, managers and golfers alike. The website contains an in depth catalogue of various initiatives to encourage golf participation and up to date statistic on the development of the game.
