Puma Golf signs rising Finnish tour star

4.00pm 25th March 2019 - Sponsorship & Events

Puma Golf has signed up-and-coming Finnish tour player Kim Koivu to a sponsorship deal that will see him wear the brand’s apparel and footwear on the course during the 2019 season.

The 27-year-old from Helsinki, who turned professional in 2017, will wear pieces from Puma Golf’s SS19 Collection, which features streetwear-inspired designs blended with the brand’s heritage performance gear. He will also be wearing Puma’s Ignite Pwradapt golf shoes, which boast premium leather upper and feature a mesh hybrid lining, and an Ignite foam cushioned midsole.

Speaking about the company’s latest tour signing, Cobra Puma Golf’s Brand Manager Joe Folker said: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with Kim as he embarks on his rookie season on the European Tour. In his short professional career he’s already shown his abilities, with a stellar 2018 season on the Challenge Tour, and we’re excited to watch him continue his progression on the European Tour, whilst showcasing our apparel and footwear. Kim is the perfect fit for our brand and we’re proud to have him as part of our team for 2019.”

Koivu, who next tees it up at next month’s Tropheé Hassan II tournament in Morocco, said: “I am delighted to link up with Puma Golf and represent them on the European Tour this season. I’ve long been a fan of the brand and look forward to working with the Puma golf team moving forward.”

Koivu graduated from the Challenge Tour after winning three times in 2018, and gaining his full European Tour for the 2019 season. His most victory was at the Rolex Trophy in Switzerland last August, which he won by six shots with a 72-hole total of 22 under par.
