Rockliffe will host the PGA Professional Championship, the Callaway Chrome Tour PGA Open Series adds four new venues, and the PGA Sprint Series returns for a second season as The PGA announces its 2027 Tournament Schedule.

The PGA Professional Championship, the flagship event on the Callaway PGA National Tournament Schedule, takes place at Rockliffe from the 15th to 18th June 2027.
The PGA Professional Championship, the flagship event on the Callaway PGA National Tournament Schedule, takes place at Rockliffe from the 15th to 18th June 2027.

The PGA has announced the Schedule, reaffirming its commitment to an early release to allow Members to shape their 2027 diaries. The calendar brings together returning venues and new challenges across National Tournaments, the Chrome Tour PGA Open Series and the PGA Sprint Series.

Commenting on the 2027 schedule, Richard Barker PGA, Executive Director – Business Development, said: “The 2026 season showed how much our Members value the chance to compete. National Tournament entries rose 8.8 per cent compared to 2025 and six of the nine events grew in participation. The Open Series also rose, by 6.4 per cent.

“We’re looking to build on that momentum in 2027, and by announcing the schedule in October again, we’re giving Members time to plan and prepare for the season ahead.”

The PGA Professional Championship, the flagship event on the Callaway PGA National Tournament Schedule, takes place at Rockliffe from the 15th to 18th June 2027. After a successful final in 2026 at Slaley Hall, the Championship stays in the North East but moves to County Durham, with Rockliffe ranked second in the county by Top 100 Golf Courses. The English Senior Open visited in 2013 and the five-star resort also staged the Northern Masters on multiple occasions.

This will also mark the start of qualification for the 2028 PGA Cup, with the same two-year PGA Professional Championship Order of Merit deciding places in the GB&I team as we defend the Llandudno Trophy.

QHotels Collection’s Slaley Hall keeps its place on the schedule, this time staging the Senior PGA Professional Championship on its two courses in May. The resort sits within 1,000 acres of Northumberland Forest and moorland and the DP World Tour’s Great Northern Open visited for six seasons between 1996 and 2002.

Lincolnshire’s Belton Woods, another QHotels venue, welcomes the PGA Super 60s Championship in August, building on a successful first year of partnership with the group.

Hadley Wood hosts the PGA Fourball Championship in August – a golf course designed by Alister MacKenzie and laid out around a converted Georgian house in Hertfordshire. It opened in 1922 with an exhibition match featuring Open Champion and member of golf’s Great Triumvirate Harry Vardon and came just a decade before MacKenzie’s Augusta National.

In the North West of England, Carden Park, home to PGA Captain David Llewellyn, welcomed the Women’s PGA Professional and Assistants’ Championship in 2026 and hosts the PGA Inter-County Championship in September. The signature WPGA Series tournament moves to Saffron Walden in Essex in late June.

Montrose Golf Links stages the PGA Assistants’ Championship in July, the first time the championship has been held in Scotland. The links golf course has been played on since 1562, which makes the 1562 Course reputedly the fifth oldest in the world.

The Welsh National Championship moves south in 2027 and will take place at Machynys Peninsula in September. Sat on the shore of Carmarthen Bay, it boasts the first Nicklaus-designed golf course in Wales and played host to the Ladies European Tour for four years from 2005.

Entry fees for the Chrome Tour PGA Open Series rise from £100 to £120 in 2027. The prize fund for each of the nine events rise by 25 per cent, to £27,500, which takes the total Open Series prize fund up by £49,500 across the season.

The schedule visits four new venues. Canon Brook in Essex hosts the opener in May, Cruden Bay stages the Northern Open in June and the Midlands event heads to Trentham Golf Club in the same month.

Kilkea Castle then welcomes the Ireland event in July. The series concludes at Leeds Golf Club in August with the Leeds Cup – the oldest trophy still played for in professional golf. As in 2025 and 2026, Members will also compete for £10,000 through the Open Series Order of Merit.

The PGA Sprint Series returns for 2027 after its successful introduction last year, with nine 18-hole, pro-only events each carrying a £10,000 prize fund. Four venues are new: The Kendleshire hosts the West Region Championship, Kedleston Park welcomes the Midlands Professional Championship, and the Wiltshire Open moves to Chippenham, with the Lancashire Open to be confirmed in due course.

The series tees off with the Southern Open at Sonning Golf Club, an unchanged venue from 2026, and concludes with the Wiltshire Open.

Philip Davies, Head of Tournaments at The PGA, said: “Members scored both their overall experience and their host venues highly in our 2026 tournament surveys. In planning the 2027 season, we wanted to refresh the schedule without losing what Members enjoyed, so we have kept a strong line-up of challenging golf courses.

“We are pleased to welcome Rockliffe to the calendar. Slaley Hall, Hadley Wood and Carden Park remain, and we look forward to taking different tournaments to these venues.”
