Doug Wright, one of Europe’s most prominent golf industry figures, has been promoted to the role of Global Commercial Director for Wilson Golf from 1st January 2015, having held a similar position across the EMEA region for more than a decade.

Wright, who turned Professional in 1991 and qualified as an assistant working for Clive Bonner at Bramshaw Golf Club, near Lyndhurst, Hampshire three years later, will continue to lead the EMEA business until his successor is appointed, whilst making the transition into the global role. He will relocate to the United States in 2016.

“During his career with Wilson Golf, Doug has been passionate about the brand and relentless in maximising the business and successfully involving himself in the management of our Tour players in EMEA,” said President Tim Clarke.

Wright began his career with the brand as a Tech Rep in 1998, before moving to Germany to become National Sales Manager and doubling the business in two years. He took over commercial management in the EMEA region covering 14 countries in 2003 and oversaw the sales growth arising from the sequence of Major victories by Padraig Harrington. This year he signed Marcel Siem, who has enjoyed his best ever season on the European Tour with Wilson Staff irons.

“I’ve enjoyed helping to build the business in Europe, but now look forward to the bigger challenge of advancing Wilson Golf business on a global scale,” said Wright.
