S2 Marketing completes TaylorMade-adidas Golf contract

The specialist Sports PR agency S2 Marketing has announced that its current PR contract with TaylorMade-adidas Golf will not be renewed when it runs out at the end of April 2004. This is due to internal re-structuring at the golf company. After a highly successful five-year business relationship between the two companies, TaylorMade-adidas Golf has decided to run its PR internally. For the foreseeable future, TaylorMade-adidas Golf will utilise agencies for project work on an ad hoc basis.
Since its appointment in late 1998 the expertise of S2 Marketing, particularly within the golf industry, has played a key role in TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s European marketing. Successful campaigns have included the re-launch and re-branding of TaylorMade Golf in 2000 during the Open Championship; the PR-led launch of their groundbreaking 300 Series Driver resulted in the club dominating worldwide tours and golf sales; while more recently the R500 Series Driver launch ensured that the club enjoyed similar levels of popularity due to the enthusiastic reception and coverage it received from the media all over Europe.
 “S2 has really enjoyed working with TaylorMade-adidas Golf over the last five years and learnt a lot from the experience. We shall hopefully work again with the company on individual projects. Meanwhile, we are focussing our efforts in further establishing our reputation and client base in both the golf industry and the wider sports arena,” said account director Angus Macdonald.
“TaylorMade-adidas Golf, the ‘number 1 performance brand in golf‘ has enjoyed substantial gains in market share since 2000 and this year will see the launch of a series of exciting new products. S2 Marketing will continue in its role as press office for the next three months until the current contract expires in mid-April, he continued.
“S2 has been an integral part of our marketing team for the last five years and we have really valued the huge contribution that they have made to the growth of our business in Europe during that time.
