The PGA of America’s Board of Directors has removed President Don Rea from his role citing ‘a series of issues’ deemed ‘detrimental to the Association’.

The decision to relieve Rea from his position six months before the end of his two-year term follows a period of scrutiny stemming from several incidents surrounding the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, including public comments regarding fan conduct, remarks following Europe’s 15-13 victory, and a widely circulated karaoke video recorded on the Saturday night of the matches.

Rea had previously stepped away from the PGA Tour Policy Board and was absent from last month’s PGA Championship at Aronimink.

Vice President Nathan Charnes has been named as Acting President, after which he is in line to become the next PGA of America President in November.
