The Scotsman launches exclusive golf collection

“The Scotsman”, Scotland’s national newspaper, is set to launch an exclusive golf collection on 18th April – an introductory selection of quality golf products designed to be practical, durable and stylish. The newspaper claims to epitomise reliability and elegance and the new golf items are all intended to have the distinctive “Scotsman” stamp of quality on them.

The range includes an all-purpose weather-beater, designed to keep any golfer at an optimum temperature whatever the weather, a polo shirt, which has a distinctive tailored appearance perfect for on or off the golf course and a top of the range leather golf shoe bag. All items are suitable for any level of golfer and make the ideal gift.

In Scotland, over 10% of the population have an interest in golf and over 25% claim to watch it on the television. Successful players like Colin Montgomerie and Paul Lawrie have helped to raise the profile even further and, with The Open Championship set to take place in Scotland for the second year in a row, golf has never been more popular.

“The Scotsman wishes to strengthen its connection with Scotland’s national sport,” says Kirstie Armsworth, enterprise manager at The Scotsman Publications Ltd. “A golf collection is just one part of our marketing strategy to ensure that The Scotsman is recognised as a must-read for all players and enthusiasts of the game.

“We believe there is huge potential to grow a Scotsman merchandise range, and plans are already in place for phase two of the collection. We have taken great care to ensure that each product complements The Scotsman brand as well as offering a unique style to the customer. Quality as well as value for money has been key to our plans. We have not simply taken an item and stuck our logo on it, we have carefully researched the market and identified key designers, manufacturers and items which will be of interest to customers – products which reflect the aspirational values of today’s modern golfer.”
