The Golfing Union of Ireland’s official magazine, “GOLFING”, is now available. The magazine, published by Walton Media, is a bumper 96 pages, packed with news, reviews, previews, pro-tips, sport psychology, the history of the game and much more.

In the first issue the magazine puts the spotlight on the Irish Amateur Open Championship, which will be played at Royal Dublin Golf Club on 10th – 12th May, plus a review of the West of Ireland Championship at Co Sligo Golf Club and a round-up of news and views from the Provinces.

The superb performance of Padraig Harrington is highlighted in an article on the Irish at the US Masters plus a profile on Darren Clarke and full details on the recent announcement of the Darren Clarke Foundation. There are also articles examining the latest new golf equipment, and a sports turf section, while also included in the magazine will be a section on ladies golf, provided by the ILGU.

The magazine is compiled by some of the country’s top golf correspondents, including Philip Reid, Dermot Gilleece, Charlie Mulqueen, Colm Smith and Shane O’Donoghue, and has one of the largest distributions of any golf magazine in Ireland.

Linton Walsh, of Walton Media, was delighted to announce the launch of ’Golfing’ – The Official Magazine of the Golfing Union of Ireland. “With the GUI distributing over 7,000 copies to every golf club and a further 8,000 copies available to buy in all leading newsagents,” he said, “it promises to be the number one golf magazine in Ireland – read by more Irish golfers than any other magazine: The magazine has 96 pages of unique content covering everything from the rising stars of Irish amateur golf, general club news, sports psychology, ILGU news, and specially commissioned articles such as such history of golf and interviews with international golf stars including Seve Ballesteros.

“There is truly something for everybody. It’s a must for all golf enthusiasts,” he continued. “It has been received incredible well by Irish advertisers, which reflects the niche in the market where it will be placed.”

Jack Lynch, President of the Golfing Union of Ireland was fully in support: “We are delighted to launch the first edition of this year’s GUI magazine,” he said. “It provides us with the opportunity of reporting and previewing all the national and provincial championships throughout the year and many other articles of general interest to golfers.”
