Hayters joins forces with Teamwork

8.30am 27th November 2002 - Media

Two of the UK’s largest sports news agencies have joined forces to form Hayters Teamwork Ltd. The managing director of the new joint company is Gerry Cox and the editorial director is Nick Callow, both of whom worked for Hayters prior to setting up Teamwork in 1993.

Before the merger Hayters had an international reputation for providing golf editorial to a variety of national newspapers and magazines and the new company hopes to strengthen its position in the industry.

Hayters has been responsible for a number of high profile projects, including providing the editorial for the Classic Sports Series guides to this year’s Open Championship and Ryder Cup.

Newspaper exclusives have included revealing the thoughts of Seve Ballesteros on retirement, Phil Mickelson’s views of his rivalry with Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia’s break-up with tennis star Martina Hingis.

Michael Humphreys, chairman of Hayters Teamwork said, “The merger of these two companies gives us a business larger than the sum of the two parts and a new dynamic management team which gives us great optimism for future growth.”

Gerry Cox, managing director said, “This is a fantastic opportunity. We have brought together two of the most respected names among UK sports agencies and this gives us a platform to expand into new areas whilst at the same time consolidating our core business.”

Meanwhile Hayters director Paul Trow, a former editor of ‘Golf Weekly’, has decided to leave the company and pursue other career options.
