Paultons Golf Centre will be welcoming the most talented golfers with disability to its Southampton home as they compete in the European Disabled Golf Association’s (EDGA) President’s Cup and inaugural Hampshire Disabled Open. The events will take place concurrently across Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 August, and whether playing or spectating, all are welcome to be part of this historic event.
“We are honoured to be chosen as the first English club to host the EDGA President’s Cup and to be the launch host for the Hampshire Disabled Open,” comments General Manager Molly Pavey. “Our team, members and volunteers are already working hard to ensure that we have the most inclusive event possible. It is really exciting for everyone involved.”
Paultons and the Hampshire Golf Union are working in collaboration with EDGA to ensure the smooth running of the event. Paultons clubhouse and course have already undergone renovations to facilitate access for competitors and spectators. There is also a fleet on 80+ golf cars on standby for the field which is includes men and women from across Europe as well as the UK & Ireland.
The tournament is free to attend and to compliment the on-course action, Paultons plans to offer free taster sessions for people with disability to try golf.
“This is a landmark moment in ours and the region’s golfing journey,” continues Molly “Our ambition for Paultons has always been to celebrate inclusivity and talent as well as growing accessibility to golf for everyone in the region.”
