The next generation of golfing talent took centre stage at The Belfry last week as the 2026 Faldo Futures Final brought together young golfers for two memorable days of competition, inspiration and unique experiences alongside the stars of the professional game.
Staged on August 26-27 during the week of the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, the final represented the culmination of the 2026 Faldo Futures programme, with boys and girls aged between seven and 12 earning their places through qualifying events and regional finals.
While challenging weather brought delays and tested players, organisers and volunteers alike, it did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the young finalists. The determination, resilience and sportsmanship on display provided a fitting conclusion to another hugely successful year for Faldo Futures, with some outstanding scoring despite the difficult conditions.
However, the Faldo Futures Final has been created to offer young golfers far more than simply another competition. Running alongside one of the DP World Tour’s most prestigious events gave the finalists the opportunity to experience tournament golf on a completely different scale. Every player received tickets to the British Masters, giving them the chance to watch the professionals in action and experience the atmosphere of a major professional tournament at one of golf’s most iconic venues.
The young finalists also enjoyed the very special opportunity to take part in a golf clinic with Sir Nick Faldo, learning first-hand from the six-time major champion and gaining advice and inspiration from one of the most successful golfers of his generation.
The week also featured experiences designed to inspire the youngsters away from the competition itself. Faldo Series girls enjoyed a special day together at the British Masters, sharing their own golfing journeys and meeting Ellie Eskoog, who spoke about her experiences in the game and answered questions from the young players.
After watching the professionals in action, the group headed to Husqvarna House in the PGA Village for food, interviews and conversations about the opportunities golf can offer girls and how more can be encouraged to take up the sport.
On the course, the standard once again demonstrated the remarkable talent coming through junior golf. Six champions were crowned across the age categories: Mnqobi Chilvers of Abbey Hill Golf Club and Olivia Larche of Robin Hood Golf Club in the 7–8 categories; Ralph Smith of Corhampton Golf Club and Florrie Collings of Thorpe Hall Golf Club in the 9-10 age groups; and James Prest of Stockport Golf Club and Chloe Ferneyhough of Herefordshire Golf Club in the 11-12 categories.
Prest’s victory came after an exceptional four-way tie at one under par in the Boys 11–12 competition, while Smith also finished one under par to claim the Boys 9–10 title.
For each of the six champions, victory also brought an exciting opportunity on the international stage, with every age-group winner earning an invitation to compete at the 2027 Junior World Finals in California – extending their Faldo Futures journey and providing another unforgettable experience in the game.
Behind the scenes, the event was made possible by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, ambassadors, marshals, referees and media personnel who worked through long days, changing weather and numerous logistical challenges to deliver an unforgettable experience for the finalists.
The continued growth and success of Faldo Futures is also made possible thanks to the valued support of The R&A, whose commitment to developing junior golf and creating opportunities for young people to engage with the game has helped the series reach and inspire more young golfers.
Attention now turns to Faldo Futures 2027, with golf clubs across the country invited to become part of the next chapter of the programme. Clubs interested in hosting a Faldo Futures qualifier in 2027 are encouraged to register and help give the next generation of young golfers the opportunity to begin a journey that could ultimately take them all the way to the Faldo Futures Final.
