England Golf’s iGolf subscription is celebrating five years of success, marking a milestone in its mission to support independent golfers, provide access to the World Handicap System and help players connect with the wider golfing community.
Since its launch in 2021, iGolf has grown into one of the largest independent golfer communities in England. More than 81,000 active subscribers now use the platform to track their progress, submit over 2.2 million general play scores, and maintain a Handicap Index.
The programme continues to play a key role in the growth of the game. To date, over 30,000 golfers have progressed from iGolf into club membership, demonstrating how the platform helps players take the next step in their golfing journey.

iGolfers have embraced the benefits of holding a Handicap Index, with 83% of subscribers achieving one and 91% submitting scores. The community represents golfers of all abilities, with an average Handicap Index for all subscribers of 19.6.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, England Golf is also recognising the success of the iGolf Open Events series, which continues to offer independent golfers the chance to compete, meet fellow players and experience some of England’s best courses.
Since its inception, the series has expanded year on year, with 19 events delivered to date and hundreds of golfers taking part.
Claire Hodgson, iGolf/iPlay Director at England Golf, said: “Reaching five years of iGolf is a fantastic milestone and a great opportunity to celebrate the thousands of golfers who have been part of this journey.
“From helping golfers achieve their first Handicap Index to supporting players as they progress into club membership, iGolf continues to play an important role in making golf more accessible and welcoming. We look forward to continuing to support independent golfers for many years to come.”
