Also, make sure to reserve your place at the Turf Managers’ Conference on Monday 19 January – a superb day of ‘bitesize’ learning featuring five internationally renowned speakers covering a range of subjects; roots and microbes, customer satisfaction, using technology to enhance water conservation, change resilience and precision organic matter management.
Places are still available on ‘Adjusting Cutting Units and Aftercut Appearance’, a one day workshop on Sunday 18 January. This will be presented by Ian Sumpter, Toro European Training Manager, and will focus on identifying the correct cutting unit operation and fault finding.
‘Turfgrasses, Soils and Fertilisers’ is a two day workshop on Sunday 18 & Monday 19 January. Presented by Lecturer in Golf Course Management and regular Greenkeeper International contributor Dr Paul Miller, this workshop will look at essential aspects of the grass plant, soils and fertilisers in a way that is directly applicable to turf managers.
Turf Managers’ Conference presenter Dr Brian Horgan, Horticultural Professor at the University of Minnesota, is also presenting a one day workshop on Sunday 18 January called ‘Top 5 (+1) Fertility Topics’. All delegates attending this will gain a greater understanding of basic soil fertility and plant nutrition.
Sunday 18 January also sees Noel MacKenzie, Agronomist at Sports Turf Consulting, present a one day workshop entitled ‘Change the Grass Composition of Your Greens’, giving delegates a greater understanding of ecological principles, overseeding, rootzones and more.
Another Sunday workshop, this time lasting half a day, is Jon Allbutt’s ‘Practical Calibration Clinic’. Jon, Technical Director at Britrisk Safety, will explore pesticide codes of practice and everything concerning the set up of sprayers and nozzles. This is also repeated on Sunday afternoon.
Jacky Lowe, IT Trainer at Training Gem, is presenting four focus on sessions designed to equip greenkeepers with skills in Microsoft Project 2010. She will cover the basics of the software followed by more advanced sessions, including tips on using Excel, on Tuesday 20 & Wednesday 21 January.
