Tri-Golf now at Argos

8.00am 26th August 2005 - Corporate

Millions of people now have access to a starter golf kit called Tri-Golf thanks to a deal struck between retail giant Argos and the Golf Foundation. The Tri-Golf game, a growing hit with schools and golf clubs, is now featured strongly in the new Argos catalogue. Millions of customers around Britain now have the opportunity of buying an officially endorsed golf game at a starter price of £19.99.
Tri-Golf has been officially endorsed by the Professional Golfers Association, the PGA of Europe and is supported by the European Tour. It has also been officially endorsed by many top Tour players including Nick Faldo, Paul Lawrie, Philip Price, Mhairi McKay, Alison Nicholas and others.
Mike Round, chief executive of the Golf Foundation, said, “I don’t want to underplay the potential significance of this retail partnership with Argos. Families will now see Tri-Golf in shopping centres all over Britain and they now have the opportunity to buy into a highly entertaining and informative golf game that may well put their child on the road to becoming a golfer.
“Tri-Golf can be played by children of any age, as soon as they can pick up a club. The Golf Foundation’s success in introducing Tri-Golf to schools is testament to the game’s value, offering a vital first step on the ladder of the sport. Tri-Golf has so many sporting and educational benefits and we should celebrate the fact that it is now available to everyone. That has to be good for the future of golf.”
Tri-Golf is an established Golf Foundation starter golf game for youngsters, using coloured clubs, balls, flags and targets. Many fun and educational games can be played with the golf gear in a safe environment and the Golf Foundation has successfully introduced Tri-Golf to nearly 3,000 primary schools in the British isles, and school curriculum work combined with sports festivals, after-school clubs and relationships with golf clubs all mean that Tri-Golf is now reaching an estimated 300,000 children each year.
This figure is certain to grow following the retail deal with Argos. Many children will have seen Tri-Golf at school or at an event. Now they can own their own Tri-Golf individual set and practise safely almost anywhere – in the garden, on the beach, wherever there’s an open space!
Both right-hand and left-hand sets are exclusively available through Argos and each set includes:
* A club and a putter
* Supasafe large foam balls
* A flag
* An illustrated guide full of tips and advice
Other Tri-Golf accessories are also available.
