Toro’s tartan triumph

9.00am 18th December 2001 - Corporate

Annual sales of Toro turf products in Scotland have reached record levels this year with purchases of new equipment more than double the figure achieved in 2000.

Toro’s outstanding success north of the border comes after UK distributor Lely set up a new Scottish dealer network in October 2000 which increased coverage to the whole of the country for the first time.

Toro general manager at Lely, Peter Mansfield, said, “When you consider the poor weather that slowed things up in the early part of the year and the introduction of the Toro customer-direct spare parts programme – new to Scotland in 2001 – this truly has been a tremendous achievement for us in Scotland.

“It’s made all the more remarkable when you think it’s also been accomplished by a brand new team. Our four new Scottish dealers, supported by our business development manager, George Macdonald, have done a fantastic job. It just proves once again what a strong following Toro has in Scotland.”

The four dealers are Hamilton Brothers (Engineering) Limited, Bishopton; Lloyd Limited, Dumfries; Henderson Grass Machinery, based in Edinburgh; and Allan Gammie Groundscare, Laurencekirk.

Peter Mansfield said that Toro’s business in Scotland has been a good blend both of fleet deals and general replacement of individual machines, this being confirmed by the increased number of individual customer registrations.

Toro commercial turf maintenance products are distributed throughout the mainland UK by Lely UK and in all of Ireland by Lely Ireland.
