Titleist wins Open ball count

7.30am 21st July 2003 - Corporate

For the 24th year in a row Titleist was the most used brand of golf ball at The Open Championship. More players used Titleist than all the other brands combined, with 85* of the field (54%) choosing Titleist compared to just 28 (18%) for the nearest competitor.

The dominant position of the new improved Pro V1 and Pro V1x at Royal St George’s mirrors the success it achieves week after week on the tours. So far this season the Pro V1 has amassed 80 wins on worldwide tours compared to 25 for the next brand.

The new improved Pro V1 for 2003 is a refined version of last year’s ball that offers significant performance advances. The reformulated lower compression core and new dimple configuration deliver longer distance and softer feel at all ball speeds. The new Pro V1x addresses the performance needs of specific Tour players and better amateur players who have high balls speeds or impart a lot of spin and prefer lower spin than the Pro V1 offers. The new dual core technology in the Pro V1x combined with a new 332 dimple design generates longer driver distance and lower driver spin with a higher launch angle and flatter trajectory.
