Text marketing

9.30am 9th September 2003 - Corporate

CrownGolf, owners and operators of 9 golf courses in the UK have chosen GolfSmart SMS (‘Short Message Service‘) as their preferred text message service and will roll out GolfSmart SMS to its entire club base during 2003, by which time GolfSmart SMS will be present in over 40 clubs around the UK.
Wayne Sheffield, group sales & marketing manager at CrownGolf, said, “Text messaging represents a new and very different approach to how we have traditionally communicated with our members and guests. However, times have moved on and it is important that CrownGolf continues to be at the forefront of trialing new opportunities and I am excited by this new service and the potential for instantaneous communication, at a fraction of the cost of a mailshot.”
Paul Haughney, managing director of the GolfSmart SMS service, said, “Golf clubs are now beginning to discover the power of text messaging and we are pleased to be working with an industry leader in CrownGolf and help to exploit its potential. One of the unique features of the service is that it allows clubs to target golfers in a very specific way. CrownGolf will benefit from this flexibility as they have both member only and pay and play clubs.”
The GolfSmart SMS text message service is dedicated to the golfing industry and has attracted other leading clubs. GolfSmart SMS is a flexible marketing tool based on the use of mobile phone text messaging, a proven method to reduce administration costs whilst effectively increasing revenue.
