Scottish company caps Ryder Cup team

One of Scotland’s newest companies has won the prestigious contract to supply all the headwear for the European Ryder Cup team, which competes against the USA at the Belfry at the end of September.

David Allan & Co Ltd, which was only established last October is located in Glasgow’s Port Dundas Industrial Estate, saw off all the competition to become sole supplier of the embroidered caps and visors which will be worn by the European team players, their wives and the team officials.

“Europe’s captain Sam Torrance and his wife headed up a small PGA committee which made the final decision,” explained managing director David Horner. “We sampled various styles in varying fabrics and in the end they were unanimous in selecting our Flexfit cap.

All told, the company will be supplying close on 1000 pieces of headwear and the team will wear a different colour of cap each day, which will match the clothing. Jesper Parnevic’s very unique cap will also be supplied.

David Allan & Co Ltd was also asked to supply the caps for the successful Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team, while earlier in the year the company was chosen as the major headwear supplier for the Open Championship, with around 20,000 embroidered caps making the journey from Port Dundas to Royal Lytham & St Anne’s.
