Record 11 for Direct Golf

2.00am 30th November 2005 - Corporate

Direct Golf UK opened its 11th store in the UK over the weekend of 26/27th November at the Moreton Hills Golf Centre on the Wirral, much to the delight of customers previously unable to see the Direct Golf UK retail experience at first hand without travelling a substantial distance. It was the icing on the cake for the facility which includes a 30 bay driving range, 6 hole golf course and PGA Teaching Academy.
Retail sales director Neil Bell and his team of 19 staff were simply rushed off their feet for the whole weekend. The pre opening marketing campaign included direct mail, local press advertising and the highly successful text message medium generating huge interest.
As the doors opened at 9am on Saturday morning customers were quick to snap up the exclusive sales offers with queues of 100 people forming at the tills by 10am. By Sunday evening over 250 sets of irons (many custom fit), 100 woods and utilities, 100 bags plus many other products had been purchased.
Neil Bell commented, “Once again we have proved that our loyal internet and mail order customers want to experience our bricks and mortar retail channel too. It was extremely pleasing to speak to so many people at first hand and receive positive feed back about Direct Golf UK. We clearly are delivering exactly what the golfer wants: leading brands at great prices supported by world class customer service.”
The company plans to continue expansion with further store openings scheduled for 2006. The first of theses openings, taking the UK number of stores to one dozen, is planned for the 28th January at the TP Golf Centre in Cambridgeshire where a management team of Peter Durham, Teresa Neeson and Ian Cochrane will run the new store which forms of a new golf complex which includes a 32 bay driving range, purpose built teaching academy, short game area and restaurant.
