Re-defining the mechanics of golf coaching

12.05am 21st June 2007 - Corporate

Sports Coach Systems have carved a niche for themselves as world leaders in the manufacture of Golf Simulators since their establishment in 1988, reports Dominic O’Byrne.

What sets them apart is the software capability that is made available via five full-time in-house software-writers. This resource makes a huge difference in the clarity of the graphics and the fact that all software upgrades are free to existing customers.

What this offers the coaching pro, is an accurate and powerful teaching tool that gives instant feedback on aspects of the stroke such as distance, carry, clubhead speed, ball velocity, club face angle, swing path & tempo… all capable of being analyzed from a variety of angles. Best of all, perhaps, it’s capable of generating revenue all year round.

Both as a fault-fixing or fully comprehensive education system and as a custom-club fitting apparatus, nothing comes close to these systems.

The different types of software for Swing Analysis, Putting, Simulation and Mini Golf produced by Sports Coach will provide systems for golf retailers, golf academies, club- fitting establishments, hotels, leisure centres, corporate events and even private homes.

The GPS software today is an industry benchmark, because it is the best simulator software currently available. In an industry notoriously harsh on judging itself, the product was voted the best software at the European Golf Show 2006 and the PGA Merchandise Show 2007 in the USA. The software already includes over 35 courses, with more being added on a weekly basis, while premium courses already include the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie, The Belfry and Turnberry.

Sports Coach Systems are currently being distributed throughout Europe, Australia, South Africa, Japan, USA, Canada and the Middle East.

With a commitment to develop the hardware and software programmes while working more closely with its distribution network, the company is considering turning over the UK distribution of its products to a business which can generate sales and provide an after-sales service at a level of professionalism that would be acceptable to diverse and exacting business sectors.

This is not a sector of the golf market that is exactly over-crowded. Yet, Sports Coach Systems is adamant they are the best value-for-money by far, generally selling at a quarter the price of competitors’ systems. There are three main components in a golf simulator: aesthetics, hardware and software.

Sports-Coach has five in-house software writers whose function it is to render the virtual courses as true to the real-life experiences as is humanly (and digitally) possible. The level of detail is astonishing, and without this, customers would tire very quickly of the simulations.

Hardware is the component that electronically measures distance, loft, direction and so forth. Sports-Coach will only accept pinpoint accuracy as a benchmark

Software is arguably the single most important component when it comes to judging value for money and making direct comparisons between manufacturers. All Sports-Coach customers receive software updates free, as part of their initial investment, and Sports-Coach is one of only two companies worldwide whose software is always up-to-date.

Systems are available from £13,500 + VAT
