Nike Golf goes soft on golfers

9.00am 12th September 2002 - Corporate

Nike Golf claims to have answered the call of golfers looking for a soft-feeling golf ball with all the benefits of a distance ball.

The ‘Power Distance Super-Soft’ is Nike Golf’s lowest compression distance golf ball. Available from November 2002, the Super-Soft’s suggested retail price will be £15 or €29.50 per dozen.

The Power Distance Super-Soft, for golf’s smooth ball strikers, has the softest feel of any ball produced by Nike Golf but without sacrificing distance. The ‘Metalflex’ core is made with extra cobalt and the cover hardness is super low. The key factor, however, is the super low compression one of the lowest in the industry.

“Soft and long off the tee with the feel you want around the green. It’s just super,” said Stan Grissinger, category business director for Nike Golf’s ball category. “We saw the growing soft-ball phenomenon among golfers and responded with what we feel will be the longest ball in the category.”
