Ipswich-made machines for USA

6.00am 18th March 2003 - Corporate

Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd (a division of Textron Inc.), the Ipswich based turf maintenance equipment manufacturer, is now producing a greens mower that will be exported to the USA, replacing the existing model produced by their US based sister company, Jacobsen.

With Textron’s policy of manufacturing at multi-site, global locations they look to build machines at the most cost-effective plant and, in this case, the decision has been taken that all G-Plex III greens mowers for world wide distribution will be manufactured in Ipswich.

Steve Chicken, managing director at Ransomes Jacobsen said, “This decision by Textron to have the latest G-Plex manufactured here acknowledges the engineering and production excellence that exists at the Ipswich factory. It’s a great boost to confidence and morale here at Ipswich as we are recognised for our ability to design and produce quality equipment for a global market. The G-Plex III is built adhering to ISO 14001 principles, using biodegradable oils, hydraulic fluids and greases that do not harm soil or water, if accidentally spilled.

“Having visited the GCSAA Show in Atlanta, America’s premier golf trade fair, it was pleasing to see not only the G-Plex III on the Jacobsen stand but also our five reel, ride on Commander mower, our 9510 rotary mower and the tractor mounted Verticut 214, all of which are manufactured here at Ipswich.”
