Glenmuir, the preferred supplier of shirts and sweaters to the European Ryder Cup Team, has congratulated Jose Maria Olazabal on his side’s stunning win in Chicago.

The Lanark, Scotland, company was awarded with a commemorative plaque marking its 25-year association with the team before the event, then members of staff in the USA and Scotland watched in amazement as their special Seve Ballesteros embroidered team outfits inspired an incredible 14½ – 13½ European win.

Said managing director, Colin Mee, who was at Medinah: “Everyone in the factory here at Lanark and those of us who made the trip are absolutely thrilled and full of admiration for the European Ryder Cup Team.

“In the 15 months we worked with Jose Maria on creating the official team wardrobe, we knew how passionate he was about commemorating Seve during this Ryder Cup and his enormous belief that Seve would inspire the players.

“And he was proved right. The comeback from 10-6 down to win was something Seve would have cherished, had he been here, and we are proud and honoured to have played a part in this most incredible of Ryder Cups.”

Glenmuir has been the Preferred Supplier of shirts and knitwear to the European Ryder Cup Team since 1987, a relationship that has coincided with a period of nine victories in the last 13 matches.

The plaque marking that relationship was presented to Colin on a chartered jet carrying players and officials to Chicago at precisely 38,000ft above Canada, 500 miles west of Montreal at a latitude and longitude of 54° North and 72° West.
