Flowtronex Europe books Algarve ticket

3.10pm 5th July 2001 - Corporate

Hampshire-based Flowtronex Europe is opening a new Sales and Service Centre on the Algarve, Portugal, this summer. The company is one of Europe’s leading pump system manufacturers and suppliers to the water and irrigation industries. In conjunction with its American sister company, Flowtronex PSI, Flowtronex is the world’s largest manufacturer of golf pumping systems and has produced more than 11,000 pump stations across the globe.

The company’s pumping systems already form the backbone of irrigation systems for the growing number of golf and leisure complexes on the Algarve, one of Europe’s favourite destinations for golfing holidays and tournaments.

European sales manager, Kevin Shaw, is taking up full time residence on the Algarve to head up the new Sales and Service Centre which will employ a team of Flowtronex-trained engineers supported by the company’s existing service agents in Lisbon and the UK headquarters.

In the last three years Flowtronex Europe has installed 11 pump sets in Portugal and the order book for the year ahead is likely to match this.

“Portugal already has the highest concentration of Flowtronex equipment anywhere in Europe apart from the UK. Our systems are the driving force behind the irrigation on many of the major courses on the Algarve, including Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago and Vila Sol,” said Kevin.

“With this level of business in Portugal it seemed a logical move to set up a permanent base so we can offer a better and more efficient after-sales service. It demonstrates a high level of commitment to our customers and will allow us to make an even greater impression on the market in Portugal and Europe as a whole,” he added.

Flowtronex Europe managing director, George Pflaster, described the move as a positive step that would consolidate the company’s position as one of Europe’s leading pump system manufacturers.

“Although we will be losing Kevin to sunnier climes it will have no detrimental effect on our UK operations,” said George. “Kevin will still co-ordinate all European sales from Portugal and Rory Jones will be promoted to strengthen our UK after-sales service, particularly for our Smoothflow customers. We are also recruiting and training more after-sales staff to ensure we can offer the best service in any UK and European location.”
