Double win for GMS

9.08am 14th August 2002 - Corporate

Golf Marketing Services has won the contracts to handle two new PR accounts to add to its growing portfolio of leading golf brands. Your Sporting Challenge and Carnoustie Hotel and Links are the latest additions.

Your Sporting Challenge is part of the Overseas Travel & Tourism Group and specialises in running large sports events to destinations around the world. The opening golf event in Tenerife this May attracted over 500 people and was a resounding success. Future destinations include Dubai this November, with Barcelona and a return to Tenerife planned for next year.

GMS director, Phil Craghill, believes this is a key new account for the company: “The first YSC event showed that run professionally, these type of events have a massive potential. We are thrilled GMS has been chosen to assist in the development and marketing of future events”.

The agreement with Carnoustie Hotel and Links comes at a time when the town is starting to gear up for the 50th anniversary of Ben Hogan’s famous Open win over the town’s famous Championship course back in 1953.

“We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious contract and feel sure that we can do a great deal to enhance the profile of Carnoustie, its courses and its hotel,” said Colin Callander, one of the directors at GMS.

“Personally, I cannot think of a golf course and resort that I would rather help to promote,” added Callander, a former editor of Golf Monthly. “Coming, as I do, from just down the road in Forfar, Carnoustie has always meant a lot to me. Its championship course is one of Britain’s finest and it is particularly exciting to be becoming involved at a time when the town is about to enjoy such an exciting historical milestone”.
