Copt Heath prefers RubaPath

7.45am 7th October 2005 - Corporate

Many facilities have now installed RubaPath and RubaRange, and one of the latest is the Copt Heath, widely regarded as one of the top clubs in the Midlands. The club used to have an synthetic carpet area by the clubhouse near the 18th green. It was at the end of its lifetime, and needed replacing.
The RubaPath surfacing had been seen by members at the nearby Sandwell Park GC, but the surface colouring wasn’t quite right for Copt Heath’s buildings. They contacted Alwena Beresford at On Course, who confirmed that RubaPath was the solution with a number of unique benefits. When they realised they could have a wide range of different colourings, including one that suited the brickwork of the clubhouse, making the decision became a simple matter.
In fact, when the various unique qualities of the RubaPath EPDM rubber granule-based ‘in-situ poured’ surfacing became clear, such as particularly good anti-slip and low-to-no noise characteristics, Copt Heath decided to quadruple the area to be re-surfaced around the clubhouse, and to include the paved area around the club’s Halfway House.
For Clive Hadley, club secretary at Copt Heath GC, installing RubaPath has been a very good decision. “We’ve had lots of favourable feedback from members who are delighted with it, and appreciate that it’s much nicer to walk on, as well as being extremely quiet for people playing nearby.
“Rainwater drains easily and doesn’t gather the way it used to on the other surfaces. It’s proving very resilient to spikes and general wear and tear. But the best aspect is that it looks first rate. The RubaPath colour we chose – a mix of black, beige and gold – matches our building well, and differentiates the paved areas from the course. So from the club’s perspective, RubaPath’s proving to be ideal.’
Alwena is encouraged by the feedback from facilities that have invested in the company’s RubaPath and RubaRange and is keen to stress the safety benefits as well as the aesthetic ones. “RubaPath has proven the ideal surfacing at many clubs and RubaRange at driving ranges. Suitable for use with metal spikes or soft spikes, the increasing awareness of health and safety on and off the course allows the anti-slip qualities of RubaPath and RubaRange significant advantages compared to other surfaces. But laying down new anti-slip surfaces that are also quieter and which colour-match with the clubhouse, surrounding areas on the course, as well as driving range and practice ground areas, makes a big difference that everyone – visitors and members – really notices.”
