Braemar Golf, St Andrews and Compagnie Générale Immobiliére (CGI), one of the largest developers in Morocco have incorporated a joint venture company in Morocco to deliver the whole range of golf management and advisory services which Braemar Golf currently offer.
The new company, Golf Management Maroc, will trade under the Braemar Golf Maroc brand name and its remit is to develop and manage the current and future golf assets of CGI and its parent company CDG Group, as well as offer the range of services to other developers and owners in Morocco and other French speaking regions of North Africa.
The partnership will deliver international standard commercial golf expertise to help further develop a growing golf industry in Morocco. The partnership approach will also look to develop the golf business as a serious profession for Moroccan nationals and play an important part in ensuring Morocco maximises its huge potential as a world class golf tourism destination.
Mr Mohammed Ali Ghannam, the General Manager of CGI commented: “Initially we were looking at the traditional route of hiring a golf management company, however, Braemar Golf’s innovative proposals to create a partnership that would provide long term benefits to both companies that 3rd party operators cannot, was very appealing and we are delighted to have finally incorporated the new company, Braemar Golf Maroc.”
Mr Ghannam went on to say “Our golf assets are an important part of CGI’s long term real estate strategy and we now have in place a partnership which will ensure they deliver commercially, assist the growing golf industry in Morocco and also ensure Morocco can deliver the quality standards expected of a world class golf destination which is part of the country’s tourism vision and strategy”.
Initially the focus is on two projects under construction; Casa Green Town, in Casablanca and Chrifia Resort in Marrakech. Casa Green Town features a magnificent Jeremy Pern designed golf course at the centre of a residential and commercial community where 80% of the homes will be permanent residents of this exciting new suburb of Casablanca.
Chrifia is also well under construction with planting commenced and 14 holes due to be sprigged by the end of the summer, of the Hills / Forrest designed golf course. The resort will add to what is fast becoming the newest ‘golf destination’ with the climate, accessibility, quality golf courses, tourism infrastructure and culture to become a hot spot for international golf travellers.
Managing Director of Braemar Golf, Keith Haslam, added: “We believe Morocco has huge long term potential both as an international golf destination and also within the domestic market. We see many Moroccans playing golf and it is certainly becoming very accessible and we are excited to work in partnership with CGI to develop both markets.
“We are absolutely delighted to create Braemar Golf Maroc and be working with a company of such reputation and is an illustration of the innovative approach we take, which the golf industry needs right now, to deliver value to our clients and partners. We look forward to not only working with CGI but with others owners and developers who may feel they can benefit from what Braemar Golf Maroc can deliver.”
