Baron bounce back

8.15am 28th May 2002 - Corporate

Baron LRMS (Leisure Relationship Management Solutions) supply some of the biggest hotel chains and golfing venues in the world including The Gleneagles Hotel, Carnoustie and the Starwood Group.

The Baron story began with Baron Systems Ltd, established in 1981, who supplied membership and stock control systems to a wide variety of golf and country clubs across the globe, boasting an annual turnover in excess of £3.5 million.

In 1999 the company was bought out by Baron Corporation Plc and turned into a web portal service – a move that was to prove disastrous within just 18 months. Baron LRMS Ltd was created in September 2001 from the asset purchase of Baron Corporation Plc.

Now based in Wakefield, Baron LRMS has re-emerged as one of the leading players in the leisure IT sector. Having modernised and developed the software to meet increasing demands, the company has recently re-installed a complete leisure management system at Gleneagles as well as Harrogate’s prestigious Academy Spa venue.

“Baron are now in a position to realise substantial growth,” said managing director Michael Barrett. “With a growing portfolio of blue chip country clubs and hotel chains on board we can offer clients tailored solutions that are used at the very highest level. We have established new installations at resorts in North America, Europe and the Middle East as well as over 100 UK hotel, golf, spa and leisure clubs.”

Barry Lang, technical director and one of the original founders of Baron software, added, “Now we are back doing what we do best and that is all about ensuring that golf clubs, spas and leisure resorts run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We are proud to say that our reputation for quality management systems is once again putting Baron LRMS Ltd in front of the field.”
