An ideal Christmas gift?

1.00am 8th December 2005 - Corporate

An early morning or late evening stroll around the golf course could produce rich pickings thanks to a new invention from British innovators GolfBright UK. The company has recently developed the GolfBright™ Ball Detector, a UV flashlight designed to find golf balls hidden in the brush or around water hazards at dawn and dusk.
The only golf-specific flashlight on the market, the product features 12 high-power, ultraviolet (UV), light emitting diodes (LEDs) that react with the pigmentation of the golf ball’s durable white cover. When the beam of the GolfBright™ Ball Detector shines on a golf ball, the resulting illumination makes it glow brightly in low light conditions. Although the product was designed for dawn and dusk hours, it also reacts in shaded conditions.
Brian Davis, product creator, discovered the illuminating effects of UV light on a golf ball while working in his garage using a UV light to inspect his car’s air conditioning system. The light illuminated white objects nearby which gave Davis the idea to try the light on a golf ball. After realizing potential for UV light on the golf course, Davis enlisted the appropriate resources to secure a worldwide patent on his innovation and brand.
“We truly believe that the GolfBright Ball detector will be an exciting gift for any golfer,” explains Brian, managing director of Brian Davis Innovations Ltd. “We’ve already conducted multiple studies at dusk and in dense cover during which the GolfBright Ball Detector located an impressive 30 golf balls in a 30 minute period which is unbelievably efficient.”
According to GolfBright’s Ben Davis, the launch of the product at the London Golf Show in April was a terrific success with the golfing public and the company was actively looking to organize distribution in Britain. At Golf Europe in Munich in October the entire exhibition stock of 120 units was sold off the stand in two and a half days. Fellow exhibitor Voco UK was sufficiently impressed by the product to agree taking the distribution for GolfBright in Britain.
