All-weather greens

8.00am 2nd August 2002 - Corporate

Huxley Golf has added a low-maintenance golf green to its extensive range of premier all-weather surfaces for golf. The company states that the golf green’s unique specification is the result of a lengthy testing and development programme during which several golf professionals were invited to evaluate both the ball reception and the putting surface.

The Huxley golf green turf is specially manufactured from crush-resistant nylon and incorporates Huxley’s Turfill® Two filler, resulting in a low-maintenance all-weather surface that looks, feels and reacts like a natural turf green.

“Our all-weather putting and chipping greens have proved a great success,” explained director Paul Huxley explained. “They are already used by fifteen European Tour pro’s and five Major Championship winners but we felt we also needed an all-round golf green that is receptive to a full short or long iron shot while retaining an acceptable putting surface. We are delighted that all the pro’s who have tried the new Huxley golf green have been really impressed. They have even been able to achieve the back-spin and ball-check they would expect from a natural grass green.”

Huxley Golf says the realism of its new golf green makes it ideal for a very wide range of applications. “Our first order was for six greens for a small golf course at a resort hotel in the Maldive Islands in the Indian Ocean”, continues Paul Huxley, “but apart from resorts and hotels, the new green’s low maintenance and all-weather playability make it suitable for the smaller commercial pay and play courses, practice and teaching academies, schools and colleges, pitch and putt installations – anywhere where weather and maintenance factors make it difficult or too costly to achieve good standards with natural turf.”

Customers can see and try the new Huxley golf green at Huxley Golf’s principal demonstration ground near their New Alresford base in Hampshire. Professional installation of the complete green and special base system is carried out by Huxley Golf’s network of trained appointed distributor installers in the UK and overseas, who also offer advisory site visits and quotations.
