A bigger King Cobra for 2003

12.10am 2nd January 2003 - Corporate

The incredible performance attributes of the King Cobra SS 370 Unlimited driver have been well documented since its much-publicised launch 12 months ago. Hailed by Golf World as ‘the driver that changed the market’, the King Cobra 370 driver has been the subject of rave reviews from all the main equipment experts and has certainly captured the imagination of the golfing public. Cobra, the most resurgent brand in golf, now aims to build on this success with the introduction of a bigger version to sit alongside the successful 370 version.

Cobra European marketing director John Peal is extremely confident that the new 430 model will prove as popular as its established counterpart. “The success of the King Cobra SS 370 has been phenomenal and I am sure that the 430 version, with its huge powerful hitting area, will be every bit as popular. We are now providing the golfer with a choice of two exceptional driver designs.

“The new King Cobra SS 430 Unlimited driver offers the consumer a larger 430cc head option. The new driver has all the phenomenal distance attributes of its counterpart with the huge head and thin face producing a ‘hot’ forgiving sweetspot. In addition, the 430’s revolutionary plasma weld process delivers more consistency across the entire face and the end result is an unbeatable combination of distance, accuracy and forgiveness suited to golfers of all abilities.”

The driver will be available from March 2003 in 7.5°, 9° and 10.5° loft options in both right and left hand with a RRP of £275.

Cobra is now looking to build on the successful re-introduction of the famous King Cobra franchise with the introduction of a new range of irons bearing the King Cobra name.

John Peal believes the new irons will be an instant hit with the golfing public. “Cobra has a long tradition in producing quality irons that deliver genuine game improvement benefits at a great value price point. Alongside the big hitting King Cobra SS 370 and 430 drivers, the new King Cobra SS-i irons are ideal for golfers all abilities seeking distance and forgiveness at an affordable price”

The new irons come in three options: men’s, ladies and seniors. The seniors and ladies models benefit from greater offset and a lighter weight. The lightweight Aldila graphite shaft fitted into all King Cobra SS-i irons promotes faster club head speeds, higher launch and greater distance.

The new irons will be available in a variety of custom fit lie options and will be available from March 2003 onwards. The RRP for the men’s version is £469 for 9 irons (3-SW) in steel shaft and £569 for graphite. Seniors are priced at £499 for a set of 8 graphite irons (4-SW) and the ladies model is £439 for a set of 7 graphite irons (5-SW).
