GAME GOLF, the first wearable device that automatically tracks and graphically displays a golfer’s round with valuable game data and statistics, announced it has signed Chesson Hadley to be a brand ambassador. In recognition of this important addition to its team of PGA Tour ambassadors, GAME GOLF will issue its first-ever Pro-Am Par Challenge.
“We are excited to welcome Chesson into the GAME GOLF family and, in honor of that, created the GAME GOLF Par Challenge which allows our platform users to compete with Chesson and our other professional tour players,” said John McGuire, CEO of GAME GOLF. “Only through GAME GOLF’s community and the social aspect of the platform can amateurs compete virtually with the game’s best no matter where they are. The GAME GOLF Par Challenge embodies the future of the game and how fellow golfers and even professionals will interact and compete globally.”
Hadley, who will be at the Puerto Rico Open defending his title, will use the device in Wednesday’s final practice round. Fellow GAME GOLF ambassadors 2010 U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell, 2003 U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk and nine-time Ryder Cup stalwart Lee Westwood will capture their round that same day at the WGC Cadillac Championship in Doral. Data from all players will display on the GAME GOLF Pro-Am Par Challenge Leaderboard.
On the GAME GOLF.com platform, golfers can compete by joining the GAME GOLF Pro Am Par Challenge and posting a round between Wednesday, March 4, and Monday, April 6. The winner will be determined based on the total number of pars scored during their posted round. In the case of a tie, the overall winner will be determined by most birdies scored during a player’s round. GAME GOLF users can participate by logging on to: http://www.gamegolf.com/challenges/690.
“GAME GOLF is great for golfers at all levels; from casual golfers wanting to connect and compete with friends and family all over the world to avid golfers looking to improve from tracking valuable data like club performances and game statistics,” said Hadley. “PGA TOUR pros have the advantage of ShotLink collecting their stats and data. My plan is to use GAME GOLF as a practice tool and as a social platform to connect and engage with amateur golfers and fans where they can compare, comment and compete with me online using stats.”
GAME GOLF is the first and only wearable technology product that collects valuable data and statistics that is “Permitted under the Rules of Golf” by the USGA and the R&A.
Last month, Ladies European Tour player Sophie Walker became the first professional golfer to use GAME GOLF during an official tournament when she received consent by the Ladies European Tour and the ALPGA to use GAME GOLF during the Australian Masters, Australian Open and New Zealand Open.
GAME GOLF, available for both Android and iOS mobile devices, is dedicated to bringing innovative ways for golfers to connect to their game, PGA Professionals and their friends through wearable technology. The small, lightweight device is worn on the player’s waist and individual, feather-light sensor tags attachto the top of the grip on each club. GAME GOLF automatically records the course, location on the hole, club used, club distance, and accuracy as the golfer plays.
