Crown Golf club members have now donated over £100,000 to The Golf Foundation in the last eight years, after a cheque presentation at Pine Ridge GC last month.

The company, which is the UK’s largest owner and operator of golf clubs, officially reached the milestone on 19th January 2015, when Crown Golf’s Chief Operating Officer Stephen Towers and the company’s Group Retail and Academies Manager Caroline Griffiths presented a cheque for £16,028 to Brendon Pyle, Chief Executive Officer at The Golf Foundation.

Since 2006, members at Crown Golf clubs have been contributing a small donation to The Golf Foundation when renewing their annual membership. The charity exists to give children and young people the opportunity to experience golf and the benefits it has to offer.

Caroline Griffiths said: “We are delighted to top the £100,000 mark, and are so proud of our generous members. Together they have helped The Golf Foundation to inspire thousands of youngsters over the last eight years. We thoroughly endorse what The Golf Foundation stands for, and what it achieves in our sport each year.

“At Crown Golf we are passionate and committed to growing the great game of golf. Introducing young people to the sport is high on our priority list: our staff, and in particular our large team of PGA golf professionals, are all fully engaged and looking forward to a great 2015.”

“We are extremely grateful to Crown Golf members” said Brendon Pyle. “They have been the biggest contributor to the Golf Foundation over the past 7 years through our ‘Commit to Junior Golf’ fundraising campaign. Crown Golf facilities have also embraced our development work by creating links with local schools and offering structured coaching programmes, which have led to a good level of juniors joining their clubs. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Crown Golf in the future”.

Stephen Towers said: “For many years now, both we and The Golf Foundation have worked tirelessly to promote the sport to juniors and adults. We continue to be delighted to be associated with The Golf Foundation, and our teams will strive ever harder in 2015 to bring more people into the game”.
