The TGI Golf Partnership’s first Business Conference was hailed a success following two-days of seminars designed to help PGA Professionals further their knowledge and enhance their businesses.
The event, staged at MarriottWorsleyPark, Manchester, enabled Partners of Europe’s leading golf retail services group, to learn valuable skills from key names within the golf industry and the business world.
Subjects such as visual merchandising display techniques, social media and shop fitting were discussed by industry leaders such as Paul Sanders from Millerbrown, Master PGA Professional John Mulgrew and David Colclough, PGA Head of Member Education.
Eddie Reid, TGI Golf Partnership Managing Director, said: “For many years we have held valuable business-orientated seminars during our annual regional meetings. However, as the group has grown the natural progression is for us to bring everyone together under one roof and increase the level and quality of education we offer.
“Once again our Partners have shown great support for the group by turning out in force for this event. There was a tremendous attendance rate with Partners traveling from all four corners of the UK.”
Andy Carlton, PGA Professional at Paisley Golf Club, added: “The conference was fantastic, both days were extremely informative. The speakers and content of the seminars were excellent and I’ve come away feeling inspired and motivated to take my business to the next level. It is events like this that make me proud to be a TGI Golf Partner.”
“It’s been a great event and I now feel motivated for the coming season, something I didn’t feel after the tough winter,” said Gordon Cattrell of Middlesbrough Golf Club.
The seven seminars on offer were:
- Visual Merchandising & Display – Colin Lipsy, Design Works
- Five-Steps to Making More Money with XPOS – Phil Barnard, Crossover Technologies
- Designing More Profit into your Shop – Paul Sanders, Millerbrown
- Why You Should Consider the Director of Golf Qualification – John Mulgrew, PGA Master Professional
- How Social Media can Benefit Your Business – Dr Jim Hamill, Energise 2.0
- Promoting your Value as a PGA Professional – David Colclough, PGA Head of Member Education
- Promoting Your Business Through the Power of Public Relations – Matthew Millard, TGI Golf Partnership Head of Communications
Phil Toomer, PGA Professional at ShrewsburyDrivingRange, said: “It was great to discuss various topics and themes other than coaching. Dr Jim Hamill has really sparked my interest in Social Media and now I have plenty of ideas to work on.”
Following the success of the first TGI Golf Partnership Business Conference, the event will now become a regular fixture in the group’s calendar.
Eddie Reid added: “The feedback we have received from those Partners that attended has been amazing. We are already in the process of looking for venues to stage next year’s event.”
