Srixon Sports Europe, who operate both the Cleveland and Srixon brands in the UK and Europe have announced the launch of the latest balls in their Z-Series line – The Z-STAR.
The Z-STAR & Z-STAR X are designed to offer the improved distance, spin and feel that is preferred by Tour Players and competitive golfers worldwide, by providing the best possible performance available in a 3 piece golf ball.
The Z-STAR and Z-STAR X use ultra thin urethane technology, an extremely large core and a softer cover to radically improve distance, spin and feel.
The Z- STAR golf ball with a 90 compression, is designed to be the best balanced golf ball for low and mid handicap players, seeking tour performance with a combination of optimum distance, spin control and soft feel.
The Z-STAR X with a 104 compression, is a distance oriented tour performance ball for players looking for explosive distance and high spin performance around the greens.
The Srixon Z-STAR ball line feature new Energetic Growth Core technology that promotes increased ball speed, as well as high launch angle and low spin.
Everything about the dimples is new. ‘Invisiseam Technology’ that ensures uniformity across the diameter of the ball for consistent flight & the 324 large shallow dimples that help reduce wind resistance for added distance. The new coating on the super soft urethane cover significantly improves spin performance from the rough, allowing players to attack pins from any type of lie.
The new Z-STAR ball line is being played by Srixon’s growing professional staff of more than 250 Tour players internationally, that between them have won more than 100 events over the last 3 years, including 40 in 2008.
These include new signing Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Robert Allenby, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Boo Weekley, Karrie Webb and Laura Davies. The balls were used by Henrik Stenson to win both the 2008 Nedbank Challenge and World Cup at Mission Hills and also by Tim Clark to win the 2008 Australian Open.
At the time of writing, Srixon Sports has 6 ball users in the Official World Top 30 ranked players.
“The new Z-STAR line has been tested by our complete Tour Staff and feedback has been tremendous,” said a Srixon spokesman. “Judging by their reaction, we can’t wait to get these balls into the hands of good golfers everywhere, for them to see their fantastic all round tour performance.”
Srixon Sports is currently the number one selling 2 piece ball brand in the UK market, according to the monthly retail audit undertaken by Sports Marketing Surveys Ltd, and their AD333 ball is also the number one selling 2 piece ball.
The Z-STAR ball line will be available from all leading Golf shops and retailers from late February 2009 and will have an RRP of £44 per dozen.
