Swing Zone’s web-based coaching breakthrough

12.09am 27th August 2008 - Corporate

Swing Zone, the first businessto provide an integrated and completely web-based coaching system that will enable golf pros to significantly develop their revenue from coaching, is being launched in September.

As the “Official Video Coaching Partner of the PGAs of Europe” this online facility, with flexible deployment options, will be instrumental in developing and extending the use of multi-media devices such as PCs, mobile phones and MP4 players in golf coaching.

The Swing Zone’s functionality will enable golf professionals to deliver a completely personalised lesson to local or remote golf pupils. Lessons are supported by hints and tips from either the pro’s own stock of teaching videos or from the Swing Zone library of video content and drills which will be available in several languages.

Paul Vines, Swing Zone’s managing director, explained, “Whilst there are a number of golf websites that offer the facility to upload videos of your golf swing for public comment (and, maybe, ridicule!), as well as a few individual golf professionals offering video coaching analysis, Swing Zone is the ONLY website that offers a complete online video coaching service with a totally personalised range of lessons, from an international network of golf pros supported by a comprehensive video library of tips and drills.

“The system also provides golf pros with further income generating opportunities with a unique corporate golf day package and coaching revenue from Swing Zone website and event customers.”

In confirming the all-round excellence of the system for on-line coaching, Tony Bennett the PGAs of Europe’s director of education, observed, “It is for this reason that we have fully endorsed the Swing Zone as a consumer service that reflects the video coaching standards that are rigorously incorporated in PGA coaching curricula.”

Swing Zone will offer, via a range of media partnerships and marketing initiatives, the opportunity for golfers to access online golf coaching as part of their regular consumption of golf news and editorial from their favourite golf magazines or websites.

It constantly monitors the quality of lessons provided to consumers and provides 24 hour online training and support for all golf professionals across Europe.

Ian Randell, chief executive of the PGAs of Europe, said, “When Swing Zone was demonstrated to us it was clear that this was a forward – looking, hi-tech example of how web-based teaching and coaching can be made available to the modern golfer who wishes to improve his technique, when convenient to him, and at his leisure.

“We do not see this as a replacement of the traditional lesson but rather an enhancement to it by enabling Professionals to offer an improved service and the pupil to be able to have a reminder of the lesson and reference to his/her swing library whenever they want to access it.”
