Trimax Mowing Systems Ltd, the New Zealand-based designer and manufacturer of specialist tractor-powered flail and rotary turf mowers, is now producing its FlailDek FX front-mounted flail mower in the United Kingdom.
The move reaffirms the importance of the UK market to Trimax and highlights the company’s confidence in the capabilities of the UK manufacturing sector. In addition to positioning Trimax firmly within a major world market, this important investment in the UK will, says the firm, enable a better service to be provided to customers.
It is expected also that Trimax’s new manufacturing base will boost the company’s sales ambitions and growth across wider Europe.
General Manager, Michael Sievwright, commented that manufacturing the FlailDek FX flail mower in the UK represented a positive step for Trimax, its dealers and customers. “We are proud to be investing in the UK’s manufacturing sector and aim to deliver a quality product to end-users for many years to come,” he said.
Three versions of the FlailDek FX flail mower are being manufactured in the UK, encompassing cutting widths of 1.35m (53in), 1.52m (59in) and 1.83m (72in).
All three models can be specified with suitable couplings to enable the FlailDek FX to be fitted in place of the standard rotary cutter deck on most popular makes of front mower. These include power units from John Deere, Toro, Iseki, Kubota and New Holland.
A key feature of the FlailDek FX flail mower is the fitting of Trimax’s Gamma™ long-life flails formed from high tensile, hardened alloy steel which combine a straight cutting edge for a perfectly even cut with an aerodynamic profile for reduced horsepower requirement, yet with sufficient draught to prevent clogging.
The flail mower also incorporates Trimax’s unique Converter™ which alters the machine’s set-up to enable cost-effective operations across a wide range of grass lengths and conditions, from fine, close-cut turf to rough, stalky grass and weeds up to a metre in length.
The first seven FlailDek FX front flail mowers manufactured by Trimax in the UK were delivered to specialist groundcare machinery dealer, Greenlay of Cramlington, Northumberland, for its customer, Northumberland County Council. The units will be fitted to John Deere 1545 front mowers.
