Mind:Style, the concept architecture group behind proposals for a unique grass roofed driving range in Antwerp, Belgium, launched its groundbreaking ideas for new, iconic golf resorts, clubhouses and urban golf centres at the KPMG Golf Business Forum, 8-10 June.
Among the standout designs on show at the international conference were ultra modern, curved glass and stone clubhouses, plus spectacular city centre golf ranges combining leisure and business facilities.
Mind:Style founder, designer Stan Colders, said, “Mind:Style engineers sublime spaces for passionate golfers. Every detail of a Mind:Style design integrates the golfer’s personal experience and creates a seamless transition between the inner and outer experience of golf.
“So many of today’s clubhouses, driving ranges and resorts look the same, as if they have come off a production line. However, more astute developers are beginning to realise that a successful golf business requires inspiring spaces and buildings to enhance the visitor’s experience, effectively creating golf sanctuaries.”
Proposals for the Antwerp City Driving Range, which Mind:Style has designed, are being considered by the city council. The multi-level range, with integrated business and leisure facilities, features a unique grass roof allowing the building to blend in with its city park surroundings.
Other Mind:Style range designs include urban golf centres with putting greens on the roof, amphitheatre style viewing areas with giant TV screens for sporting events, plus underground meeting rooms with transparent roofs over which golfers hit shots on to the range.
“We received an extremely positive reaction to our resort, clubhouse and range designs at the KPMG Golf Business Forum,” added Stan Colders. “It is encouraging to know that there are enlightened developers out there who now want to take golf forward with new ideas and appeal to a broader audience. We look forward to creating inspiring golf facilities across Europe and beyond.”
Golf development professionals from more than 30 countries attended the KPMG Golf Business Forum at Cyprus’ Aphrodite Hills resort, which Mind:Style co-sponsored.
