Elfordleigh relies on Calor

12.20am 16th June 2005 - Corporate

Elfordleigh Hotel, Golf and Leisure Club has all the charm of an English country house and is situated in 100 acres of glorious parkland. The hotel relies upon Calor Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to power all of its heating, catering and leisure facilities – as well as its golf cars.
With an annual turnover of approximately £3 million and attracting thousands of visitors each week, the Elfordleigh Hotel wanted a fuel source it could rely on. The hotel is unable to operate on mains gas so LPG became the natural alternative. The central heating, hot water, gas for the kitchens, heating for the swimming pool/heath spa, and fuel for the golf cars are all supplied by Calor.
The decision to switch the golf cars to run on LPG was made by hotel manager, Michael Lee. “The hotel was using Calor when it was first opened in 1946 and when the current owner brought it in 2000 he was pleased with the service that Calor was providing so he continued with this. We also decided to use Calor for the golf cars and for the extra bedrooms that were built.
“Calor proved good value for money and we had been pleased with the service we received from Calor over the years so it was a natural choice for us to stay with them.”
Michael decided to purchase 16 brand new golf cars in January – and wanted them to run on Calor LPG. The E-Z-GO golf cars, manufactured by Ransomes Jacobsen, were supplied by Mox Technologies, based in Banbury, Oxon.
“We had previously run the golf cars on petrol but when we decided to extend our fleet we looked at using LPG to fuel the cars and the running costs seemed to be cheaper.
“Also we thought there would be problems with storing larger amounts of petrol, as we were extending our fleet of golf cars, so Calor LPG became the natural alternative.”
