Earlier this year PowaKaddy, the market leading powered trolley brand, announced the introduction of a new rental initiative, which allows golfers to experience the benefits of using a PowaKaddy electric golf trolley. The PowaKaddy rental scheme was initially rolled out on a limited basis for 2004, but interest in the scheme has been conclusive, with 40 fleets already established nationwide this year. These range from small golf clubs with the minimum 2 carts, to 15 at Gleneagles, right up to the largest fleet in the UK of 50 carts at the London Club.
Albert MacKenzie of Saunton Sands Golf Club is one of many satisfied fleet owners. “Our revenue from our rental fleet of PowaKaddys has exceeded our pull cart revenue this year. This has made the investment very worthwhile and we will definitely renew our fleet of PowaKaddys,” he said.
The number of fleets and average number of trollies per golf club has far exceeded PowaKaddy’s expectations and the company has big plans for 2005, with the intention of more than doubling the number of fleets to around 100. David Wells, PowaKaddy’s sales and marketing director commented, “The rental scheme has been a huge success this year and for all of our golf club partners the returns have easily justified their investment. It is another indicator that more and more golfers are seeing the benefits of using a powered trolley and we are delighted that we can offer another revenue stream to golf club managers.”
The rental fleet scheme for 2005 will once again feature the famously reliable and robust ‘Classic Rental‘ and the scheme allows golf club professionals and managers to lease purchase a minimum of two Classic Legend machines over a 6 or 9 month period, after which the retailer owns the carts. The Classic Legend rental machines have additional features specifically designed to enhance the rental service including clip-on rental boards, special air tyres and 36 hole batteries as standard.
