FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, has announced that Russell Lawes, formerly FJ Marketing Manager, has been appointed to the position of Sales and Marketing Director for the UK Region with immediate effect. Lawes’ move comes following the deployment of FJ stalwart Richard Fryer to FJ headquarters in Brockton, Massachusetts, where he assumes the role of Director of Footwear Development.
Lawes, who boasts a wealth of experience within the European golf market, having held his previous position for 10 years, will look to build on a successful start to 2017 for the leading shoe, glove, sock and apparel brand by implementing sales and marketing strategies across the UK Region from FJ’s European HQ in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
He will be responsible for the overall FJ Sales and Marketing operations in UK, Ireland, South Africa and the Distributor markets of Europe and the Middle East, as the brand continues to grow throughout one of the world’s most important markets.
Following his appointment, Lawes said: “It’s a real honour to assume the role of FJ Sales and Marketing Director for the UK Region from Richard, and a move that comes at a very exciting time for the brand, as we continue to solidify our position as the most trusted shoe and glove in golf.
“Despite the changes to personnel, the core objectives of the brand do not change, as we continue to bring the most innovative and best-performing golf products to consumers who want to play their best. I look forward to some very exciting times ahead, working with our trade partners and colleagues internally as we strive to meet this goal.”
Lawes takes the first steps in his new role following another highly successful six months for the brand, in which FJ maintained dominant market shares in both shoes and gloves along with strong sell through of its ever popular Performance Golf Apparel line.
Jeremy Tomlinson, Vice President and Managing Director of Acushnet Europe, said: “Russell’s experience and commitment to the brand made him the outstanding candidate for this position and we are delighted to continue our approach of promoting talent from within the organisation.
“We look forward to benefitting from Russell’s extensive expertise and are highly confident that he will continue to deliver success for the #1 Shoe and Glove in golf as we continue to go from strength-to-strength.”
