The R&A announced today that The 148th Open will be played at Royal Portrush in 2019, marking a historic return to Northern Ireland for golf’s oldest and most international Championship after nearly 70 years

Peter Unsworth, the new chairman of the R&A Championship Committee, promised the information available to spectators last week had ‘never been so readily available’. Final attendance figures show that 202,917 attended this year compared with 228,976 when the Championship was last held at Hoylake.
