Handicaps are currently delivered through six different systems around the world and the R&A and the USGA are now working with golf’s handicapping authorities to develop a single World Handicap System

A landmark agreement reached by both the English Golf Union and the English Ladies’ Golf Association will lead to a National Computerised Handicapping Scheme. A new company English Golf Limited (EGL ) has been formed to undertake this and introduce a wide range of benefits to clubs, individual members and County Unions. The consortium behind the company is led by Property Golf and Finance Group Limited and includes EGU, ELGA, British Telecom, Syntegra, Capital One and Close Brothers. The new organisation will embrace nearly one million golfers
