Tickets for next year’s Walker Cup, which is being played at Royal Liverpool Golf Club from September 7-8, are now on general sale.

The 47threnewal of the matches between teams from GB& I and America will be staged at the Merseyside club for the first time since 1983. Royal Liverpool, which is also known as Hoylake, will be celebrating its 150thanniversary in 2019.

Royal Liverpool Golf Club will host the 2019 Walker Cup next September

The GB&I team will be bidding to win back the historic trophy after a 19-7 defeat at Los Angeles Country Club last year. The United States will be looking for a first win on this side of the Atlantic since 2007, when they won 12½-11½ at Royal County Down.

Adults will be able to attend both days for £40, while a day ticket costs £25. Children under the age of 16 are free of charge providing they are accompanied by a paying adult. Reduced price tickets are available for those aged 16-24 years old, starting at £15 for a day ticket and £20 for a weekend ticket.

Duncan Weir, Executive Director of Golf Development and Amateur Events at The R&A, said: “The Walker Cup is one of the world’s most prestigious and exciting amateur events featuring the most talented golfers from Great Britain and Ireland and the United States. The two teams have contested many memorable encounters and golf fans of all ages can look forward to watching a competitive and entertaining match next year when it is played on one of the finest links courses in the country.”
