The ‘Ultimate Golf Tour’

12.05am 24th August 2001 - Travel

On 8th January 2002, a PrivatAir Boeing 757 Business Jet, customised to take only 40 passengers, will take off heading west to Dorado Beach, whose hotels and golf course are created out of fruit plantations and mangrove swamps on the Puerto Rican seashore. This will be the first leg of a 20-day luxury round-the-world golf tour, starting from London and visiting Puerto Rico, Scottsdale, Pebble Beach and Spanish Bay, then on to Lanai Island Resort in Hawaii, Port Douglas on the Great Barrier Reef, Chiang Mai in Thailand and finally the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

David Kinson, marketing director of PrivatAir Group said, “We’ve created a new concept in golf tours that combines playing at some glorious courses with luxury travel and the best hotels, very similar to the way top golf pros travel. We’ve reconfigured our BBJs to offer the highest level of comfort, giving much more personal space and a generous baggage allowance. We’ll use VIP terminals where possible and ground transportation will take customers directly to the aircraft steps, where we’ll have the flexibility to take off and land to suit our own leisurely itinerary.”

Optional non-golf activities will also be offered such as whale watching, elephant trekking, a Great Barrier Reef cruise on a glass bottom vessel and a special desert experience.

“This is the second golf tour that PrivatAir has organised,” continued David Kinson, “and is due to the growing demand from sports enthusiasts for luxury bespoke tours. Our first golf tour was in November 2000 and one of the non-golfing highlights was a low fly pass of Mount Everest and a two hour touch down to watch the sunset at Ayers Rock, which shows another of the advantages of travel in your own dedicated jet! Our customers just have to worry about shooting par – we do the rest.”

The 2002 PrivatAir Golf Tour runs from 8th – 29th January 2002 and costs £37,000 per person, fully inclusive with travel insurance.
